Steel Pans

Steel pans originated in Trinidad and Tobago in the West Indies, they have become popular in the UK and bring the carnival atmosphere alive.

Today we have a trio of Steel Pan bands playing from 12 to 2pm by the Dig Field Wall.

Silver Sparrows
The Silver Sparrows play all steel pans, from bass to soprano, plus drum kit and percussion – and play a wide variety of music, including pop, folk, classical, soca / calypso.




Foxwood Steel

Foxwood Steel are a high quality traditional sixteen-piece steelband, originally formed in 1980s at Foxwood School, regularly play the northern carnivals and Leeds local events.






Youth Steel Pans the younger generation take to the steel pans for their turn to bring the Festival to life.
