This particular Dakota was manufactured in the USA by Douglas in 1942 and initially issued to the United States Army Air Force, it was then transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada during World War Two.

Dakota's were particularly involved in re-supplying partisan forces in enemy-occupied countries such as Greece and Yugoslavia, either by para-drop or by landing at clandestine airstrips behind enemy lines.
We thank the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight for providing this flypast.
